This week, early voting begins in two key battleground states as Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump deliver their final speeches to voters.
Here are some Tuesday headlines you may have missed: Harris participated in an hour-long radio town hall hosted by co-hosts of Detroit, Michigan syndicated radio station Charlamagne the God, where she fended off criticism that her speech "seemed very rehearsed." In an interview with Bloomberg at the Chicago Economic Club, President Trump defended his plan to impose high tariffs on companies that don't ship agricultural products into the country, without mentioning whether he has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin since leaving office in 2021. In a Fox News town hall focused on women's issues, President Trump said he believes some states' abortion restrictions are "too strict" and need to be "revised." He also defended recent comments calling himself "the father of IVF" and suggesting he would use the military on Election Day to fight what he called the "enemy within." The two former presidents will campaign separately next week, along with Gov. Tim Walz. Bill Clinton will accompany the Democratic vice presidential nominee to an event in Durham, North Carolina, on Thursday, while Barack Obama will appear with Walz in Madison, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, according to his campaign. Georgia broke its record for early voter turnout on Tuesday, according to the Georgia Secretary of State's Office. Election officials also said mail-in ballots were sent out by the U.S. Postal Service as scheduled and were not affected by the hurricane. What's on the agenda today: Harris will appear on the right-wing cable network on Wednesday with Fox News host Bret Baier for her first interview, which will air at 6 p.m. ET. A few hours later, Fox News will air a pre-taped town hall meeting with Trump from Cumming, Georgia, at 11 a.m. ET. Later Wednesday, Trump is scheduled to appear at a town hall meeting hosted by Univision in Miami.
