One person was killed and four others wounded in a shooting near Ashdod, Israel, on Tuesday, according to a local hospital that received the victims. Asta Ashdod Medical Center said one victim suffered moderate injuries while two others suffered minor injuries. The medical center added that the deceased was dead on arrival. Another hospital, Kaplan Medical Center in Rehovot, said it had admitted a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the leg. Israel's emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said it received reports of two shootings on the No. 4 highway between Ashdod and Tel Aviv at 11:06 a.m. local time. Israeli police spokesman Deputy Chief Asi Aharoni called the shooting a "terror attack" on Israeli television and said the gunman had been "neutralized."
